The SUDEGO Sustainable Development Goals in the Schools Project, funded by the Erasmus+ Program, was presented at a meeting with great interest. It took place on May 16th 2019 and was organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry – Dobrich together with P.R.Slaveykov Secondary School.
The event was attended by students, teachers and business representatives.
Zhivko Hristov, a student of XI grade, presented to the guests a good practice in one of the goals of the project, with the presentation “Building a positive attitude towards nature through ecological education”.
Dr. P. Rani (Italy) discussed with the students the five objectives on which the project is focused and how we can tackle issues such as unhealthy lifestyles, gender inequalities, environmental pollution and limited access to modern electricity, over-production and consumption, deforestation and biodiversity conservation, and the students demonstrated exceptional maturity and interest in the issues underlying the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
The SUDEGO Project focuses on 5 of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, and namely: Goal 3: Good health, Goal 5: Gender Equality, Goal 7: Renewable Energy, Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, and Goal 15: Life on Earth.
The main objectives of the project are to develop innovative didactic modules that will be provided to teachers in order to raise their awareness of five of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), raise awareness and engagement of students for these goals, and find possible implementation solutions for the SDGs as part of their training.
The Project is implemented in partnership with organizations from Great Britain – Northern Ireland, Finland, Spain and Italy, with each partner country being responsible for one objective on which it develops a didactic module for students from the lower secondary school (IO2) and upper secondary school (IO3). CCI – Dobrich prepares two lessons for Goal 3: Good health and well-being for all. The first lesson relates to the fight against epidemics, with special attention being paid to diseases such as tuberculosis, hepatitis, HIV/ AIDS, obesity. As well as to immunizations, sports and healthy life-style as a solution for fight against these diseases.
The second lesson is related to addictions to psychoactive substances and the fight against smoking, alcohol and drugs.
